Strengthen Your Jawline With Surgery or Dermal Fillers

A prominent chin adds definition to any face in both men and women. When the chin appears to be set behind, it makes the jawline appear weak and detracts from the overall appearance of the face. Mentoplasty or chin implant surgery is a form of facial cosmetic surgery that helps augment the chin structure to give men a more masculine appearance. In women, it can lend a striking femininity to neck and chin.

It is important to choose a skilled surgeon with experience in facial surgery procedures for chin and jaw line enhancement. Envy Aesthetic Center, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Marco Gonzalez, provides chin and jaw line augmentation surgery to patients in El Paso, TX, and surrounding locations.

What is a weak chin?

Take a look at your face in profile and notice the position of the chin with respect to your lower lip. If the chin’s forward-most point lies on the same vertical plane as the lower lip’s forward-most point, you have a strong chin. If your chin lies behind this point, it is a weak or recessed chin. Your surgeon will determine your candidacy before suggesting a customized surgical plan for chin and jaw line contouring.

Why chin implant surgery?

Persons with a weak chin have imbalance in their facial characteristics. When the structure of the jawline is altered through the use of chin implants, it adds strength to the lower part of the face, improving its harmony with the rest of the face.

Some persons find their profile does not look very attractive because the chin is recessed or the nose appears large. Cosmetic surgery in the chin region can help to improve facial balance and make the profile more appealing.

A weak chin makes the neck appear undefined and fat below the jawline looks more pronounced. When chin implants are placed on the jaw bone, they cause a subtle change in the jaw and chin structure, resulting in a face with a distinct aesthetic appeal.

What is chin implant surgery?

In a chin implant plastic surgery, the surgeon makes a tiny incision within the mouth. Through this, a customized chin implant made of biocompatible silicone is inserted. The surgeon positions the implant to fit snug around the jawbone in such a way that the chin gets extended.

What are the benefits of chin implant surgery?

Chin augmentation helps to:

  • Add definition to the edges of the jaw line.
  • Improve the appearance of the lower part of the face from the front as well as the side.
  • Reduce “lip strain” that occurs in persons with a hanging lower lip and instantly does away with their “stern” or “angry” look.
  • Provide greater separation between the neck and the jawline, reducing the impression of a ‘fatty’ neck.

Chin augmentation surgery can be customized for men and women. Generally, men require a bigger chin to add to the “masculine” look while women need to have the chin supported from both sides to make the jawline appear “feminine” and slender. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Marco Gonzalez receives patients from El Paso, TX, and nearby areas for chin and jaw line contouring procedures.
