Plastic Surgery

Tummy Tuck Surgery

Abdominoplasty or tummy tuck surgery is a major cosmetic surgery procedure. It requires tremendous preparation to ensure a seamless surgery with an expected outcome. Your plastic surgeon will provide you with a list of things that need to be done as part of the preparation. They will also let you know the things that shouldn’t be done.

Feel free to ask questions from your surgeon during your pre-op consultation, and make a judicious choice about the procedure. Envy Aesthetic Center, led by board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Marco Gonzalez, provides abdominoplasty to patients in El Paso, TX, and surrounding locations.

Do’s of a Tummy Tuck Surgery Preparation

  1. Strong Support System

You may experience several severe ups and downs emotionally when you undergo a tummy tuck cosmetic surgery. You may also suffer from significant mood swings ranging from elation to feelings of depression. It’s crucial that you enlist the support of friends and family to take care of you.

  1. Healing Process

Abdominoplasty procedure involves anywhere from one to two weeks of downtime depending on the surgical approach undertaken. It can take several weeks for you to feel normal again and for the swelling to subside completely. Focus, patience, and follow-ups are necessary if you want a sustainable and sound recovery.

  1. Healthy Relaxation Activities

Read magazines and books, watch movies at home, surf the net, and take care of mild household activities for the first fourteen days after getting your tummy tuck procedure performed. Maintain a relaxed schedule and don’t return to work before your surgeon permits you to.

  1. Communicate with Your Surgeon

You need to share all relevant habits, health information, and concerns with your surgeon in a frank fashion before getting the tummy tuck surgery done. Do not hesitate in communicating with your surgeon if you experience abnormal pain or signs.

  1. Healthy, Balanced, and Protein Rich Diet

You should get on a high protein, balanced diet prior to your tummy tuck plastic surgery. You should continue the diet for at least 2 weeks after the surgery is done. This should be under the guidance of a nutritionist. Make sure you don’t crash diet.

Things Not to Do After Tummy Tuck

  1. Stay Away From Tobacco

Refrain from using any form of tobacco for at least four to six weeks before and after your tummy tuck surgery. You will experience poor healing if you continue smoking. It may also increase the risk of bleeding.

  1. Do Not Work Towards Rapid Weight Loss

You should not undertake rapid weight loss options, such as weight loss drugs, crash diet formulas, and other things. Maintain a healthy body weight.

  1. Say No to Aspirin and Herbal Meds

You should not be on any blood thinner for at least two weeks before getting the tummy tuck surgery. You may need to stop vitamin E supplements, herbal medications, and other prescription drugs as well.

  1. Eat Food to Have a Regular Bowel Movement

You should avoid being constipated after getting a tummy tuck surgery. Eat lots of fruits, veggies, and fibrous foods. Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Marco Gonzalez receives patients from El Paso, TX, and nearby areas for abdominoplasty.
